Made to order, in a personal pattern.
Garments cut for the client, from cloth chosen for the client, made by hand. A short list of what Max makes, and how.
Suits
Two-piece and three-piece, single- or double-breasted. Worsted for the working week, hopsacks and flannels for the rest. One to two fittings, depending on the cloth.
Jackets
The single garment that does the most. Cut to be worn open as readily as buttoned, with trousers from the wardrobe or odd. Tweeds, linens, and hopsacks chosen for the season.
Trousers
Single- or double-pleated, plain front when preferred. Cut to sit at the natural waist; pattern kept on file so subsequent pairs follow a single first fitting.
Overcoats
Eleven- and fourteen-ounce cloth from Holland & Sherry and Fox Brothers. Made to last twenty years. Worn over a suit in the morning and a sweater on the weekend.
Formal dress
Dinner jackets, morning suits, and the occasional white tie. Ordered ahead of the diary, fitted in good time. Kept for the years they are needed.
Shirts
Made in runs of four or six, to a single pattern. Cotton from Thomas Mason and Albini; collars and cuffs cut to the suit they are worn beneath.
Measured once. Returned to often.
Max travels to the client. First appointments take place in the office, the home, or a hotel — usually around an hour for consultation, cloth selection, and measuring. The diary handles the rest.
A personal pattern is drawn at the first fitting and kept on file. Subsequent orders need only a brief check-in: an email, a swatch, a date for the fitter.
The best of English and Italian cloth.
Every garment is cut from cloth chosen for the client and for the way it will be worn. Max works with the finest English and Italian mills — from Holland & Sherry and Fox Brothers to Loro Piana — selected for quality and how they perform in real life. The full book travels to every appointment.
From first appointment to first wear.
First appointment
Around an hour. Consultation, cloth selection, and measuring — all done in one visit.
Fittings
One to two, depending on the garment. Around thirty minutes each, held wherever the diary allows.
Delivery
Pressed, bagged, and brought to you. The pattern stays on file for the next order, and the one after that.
Appointments are available for new and existing clients.
